Hike the Famous 100K La Cloche Silhouette Trail in Killary

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛We are planning to hike the renowned 100K La Cloche Silhouette Trail in Killary Provincial Park over the Thanksgiving long weekend, when the whole park turns into a magnificent oil painting, as frequently depicted by the Group of Seven.

A simple itinerary is listed below:
Friday Oct 5: leave Toronto early afternoon, get to the George Lake campground before dark (ideally), eat and rest.
Saturday Oct 6: leave the George Lake campground early morning, hike about 40K to get to the interior camp site H34 or H35, set up tents, eat and rest.
Sunday Oct 7: get up early to scale the Silver Peak (the highest point in Killary), come back to H34 or H35, break tents, hike about 35K to get to interior camp site H18 or H19, set up tents, eat and rest.
Monday Oct 8: finish the last leg, get back to the George Lake campground, and head home.

This trail is NOT an easy one. Even over a three-day course, it is still fairly challenging and demanding. Would only suggest to people in good shape.

Gears: 3-season backcountry tents (NOT car camping tents), good sleeping bags (-7 C at least), large backpack (around 80L), etc.

Currently, we have 5 people. If you are interested in this one, please PM me. Thanks.

    • Finishing La Cloche Silhouette Trail in three days!!! You are ambitious. Waiting for your travel log. Good luck.
    • Very ambitious.... regular hiking speed without the backpack is around 5-6k/hr, 40K per day at least takes 8 hours......
    • Want go but unsure if I can do it, the longest I've done is 30+K took 12 hrs, end up broke down on the camp site entrance can't move for an hour .
    • I am interested. Check your PM.
            • I could lend you a baby carrier, a really good one, if you would like to take your baby with you; even better, I could offer to carry all your gears, so long as you would like to give it a try :)
              • LOL
      • It might not be as fascinating as the West Coast Trail in BC, or the North Rim in Newfoundland, but it's already the best in Ontario. You might get exhausted, but you will NEVER regret it.
If you have done some serious trekking, this should be like "walk in the park", although at a brisk pace. Just to assuage your concern, it has been done under a much more aggressive timeline. Have seen young college kids finished up the whole thing within 3 days. Bottom line: no big deal. The major theme: enjoy the varicolored fall at Killary, in the early morning and at deep night. Please check PM for contact info. Thanks.
        • Did you send me a PM already? For some reason I haven't received it. I have sent you my contact via PM.

12点才到the Crack.

1点回到the Crack.
